Hello everyone.

THANK YOU for your involvement in the Fools for Christ Drama Group selection of our 2016 Musical.  WE WANT your input and ideas in picking the perfect third big production for our group!

First thing you need to do is to join a team!  There are 3 teams who will be working on vetting show options and making show recommendations at our fall meeting.  E-MAIL ONE OF THE BELOW TEAM LEADERS TO JOIN THEIR TEAM!

The process will be as follows:
Each team will come up with 3 recommendations for which show we should do, and what time of the year we should do it.  Exact parameters are below.  Then we will get everyone together for a meeting in September, go over each team’s 3 options, and pick the overall finalists…as well as the time of year it will be performed.  After that meeting, when the finalists are decided, Ben and Matt will select the show and it will be announced at the Fools for Christ annual meeting in October.

The Team Leaders are:
Andy Hennig – aphennig@hotmail.com
Katie Fredericks – skittleshoes@icloud.com
Cyndi Frankel – momclwulff@hotmail.com

Here are the details for what we need vetted for each Show and Time Frame recommendation your group will bring to the meeting:

For the show’s time frame, we would like your group to recommend if the show should be done in spring, summer, or fall 2016…and then more specifically which month(s) you think would work best.  Things to consider are the rehearsal needs for each specific show, possible conflicts with big events at either STS or CTK, attracting audience members & selling tickets, and the possible venue.  There are pros and cons to every time of year, and your team should discuss and get as much input as possible from all group members.

For the show itself, we would like your group to vet out the following for every show you consider, and we need detailed information on each item for the 3 finalists you bring to the meeting.

1. Message.  The show needs to have a positive, uplifting, or redeeming message.  It does not have to be a Christian show per say, but the theme/message cannot go against Christian values.  It also needs to family friendly, open to audience of all ages.
2. Cast.  The show needs to have a flexible cast size, and a large enough cast to hopefully allow most people interested to be involved.  The cast needs to include males and females of all ages.  A chorus or ensemble backing group in addition to speaking or soloing cast would be appropriate, but not required.
3. Music.  The show needs to be a musical, and the music needs to be able to be performed by our level of singers.  Nothing with drastic or super large vocal ranges needed, or nothing operatic.  The orchestra/band needed also must be considered, with the music able to be performed by a smaller ensemble.
4. Setting.  The show should have a setting with the needed sets/props/costumes being something we can reasonably accomplish.
5. Is it Known?  Part of the decision is whether we should do a show that will bring in audience on it’s name alone, or whether we can attempt something lesser known.
6. Our Group.  Our general talent pool needs to be considered when looking at role demands in the show, as well as the fact this show is third in line for us behind “Joseph” and “Scrooge”.
7. Licensing.  You need to verify if the show is available to be licensed for performance by our group, and if possible how much in general the licensing cost would be.

The Team Leaders will be the contact points for communication as we go forward.  They will be able to ask us any questions they have through this process.  The exact details of the show selection meeting in September will be announced soon, and communicated through the Team Leaders.

THANK YOU for everything all of you do for the Fools for Christ, and for your help with this process.  We need more people to be willing to step into leadership roles with the group as we continue to grow, and this is a great step in the right direction.  We will select a great show, it will be a lot of fun, and another great success for our group!

Ben & Matt
